Thank God Jesus is liberal! There comes to mind the woman taken in adultery
(the very act!), the woman at the well (five husbands! Gasp!), the thief on the cross
(caught red-handed!), and a bleeding, dying Savior hanging on a cross pleading for forgiveness for those who put Him there! A gentle, humble Jesus who said,
"Let the children come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven." A Savior who never saw a sinner he didn't love enough to die for! A Savior who said,
"Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest"
(not bothering to check to see if they had worked hard enough or to check their credentials!)
"Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall have rest for your souls."
What in heaven's name describes a liberal if these do not!! And it also describes a great heart full of love
(not vengeance) for weak, poor, trembling people (like you and me) who have nowhere else to go. Praise God for the great, glowing heart of Jesus our Lord! Let every knee bow and every heart hail Him,
Lord of Lords and King of Kings!

No matter what you do, dishwasher, maid, manager of a five star restaurant, pastor, truck driver, stay at home mom or dad, work like you’re working for the Lord and you’ll thrive. Not only will you be successful, but you’ll be satisfied with the job that God gave you to do.
But what if you don’t feel like you’re thriving? Perhaps some of your coworkers have been laid off or aren’t doing their jobs, leaving you to pick up the slack. You’re out there busting your rump, cranking out your best work and your boss never seems to notice your extra efforts or the late hours you’ve been logging, making you feel used and unappreciated.
Perhaps you’re a homemaker and you’ve just finished cleaning the kitchen and someone follows right behind you and makes a huge mess. And then leaves it for you to clean up even though they’re perfectly capable of cleaning up after themselves.
Believe me, I’ve been there. As a matter of fact, I’m pretty sure that all of us have been in that position. Working hard and receiving nothing in return; not even a simple thank you.
However, the thing I’ve noticed (about myself, at least) is that when I let resentment towards that ungrateful someone creep into my heart, when I let it stain my soul like a scorch mark on a silk blouse, I’ve taken my eyes off God. I’ve allowed myself to become more concerned with gaining the approval of that person than pleasing God who is the only One I should ever try to please.
So now, whatever I do, even if it’s something I’d rather not do, I do it for God. Knowing that God sees everything, having the certainty that He’ll reward my efforts, no matter how small, makes putting 110 percent into whatever I do a whole lot easier and much more satisfying.

There once was a little boy who wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of root beer, and he started his journey.
When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman. She was sitting in the park just staring at some pigeons. The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the old lady looked hungry so he offered her a Twinkie. She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him. Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered her a root beer. Once again, she smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.
As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave but before he had gone more than a few steps; he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug. She gave him her biggest smile ever. When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him,
"What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added,
"You know what? She's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"
Meanwhile, the old woman, also radiant with joy, returned to her home. Her son was stunned by the look of peace on her face and he asked,
"Mother, what did you do today that made you so happy?" She replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." But before her son responded, she added,
"You know, he's much younger than I expected."
Too often we under estimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!
