A Wretch Like Me

Though my husband has turned away
I’m too old to make him stay
As unattractive as I may be
Little children turn and flee

Though I’ve gotten plump
And I belong in a dump
God wants me by His side
Unlike man, He looks at the inside

Through the years
Through the tears
It’s been the Lord who hears
And the only One who nears

Standing there, wondering what to do
Knowing that I’ll never measure up to you
In the mirror of self-reflection, I don’t like what I see
Despite it all though, God loves a wretch like me
